Apprenticeship
I came across Apprenticeships whilst looking for a part time job on indeed.co.uk and I did not know I could do an apprenticeship in IT or Architecture. I went to a Grammar school and we did not cover apprenticeships. I decided to go to Huddersfield New College over 6th Form at Crossley Heath as they offered better IT courses, I also took Math and Physics as they were my best subjects. I assumed I would have to go onto University to study in order to get a good career. I was interested so researched apprenticeships. My main concern is I make the wrong decision now that could affect me later.
I spoke to my parents and we decided an apprenticeships was probably the right move for me as I enjoy the work environment and if it helped me secure a long term job with an employer at my age it would be good. I could be hopefully an asset to a company over 4 years and learnt a lot instead of staying in education and trying to then find a job.
I am interested in programming, web design, graphic design, advertising, architecture and engineering. I would really like a position with a company who want someone long term to progress and develop within the company. I really enjoy anything computer based and my interest in architecture has come from travelling with my family especially Dubai and the amazing buildings they have, I was lucky to go into the Burj Al Arab Hotel however we stayed in another hotel and I was very impressed with the Hoover Dam in Colorado. My parents have had a house extension and factory extensions and it was interesting to see the importance of the structural requirements needed.
